Carrie (Hilton) Shell (Class of 2000) Matt and welcomed their first child, Landon Matthew,on June 10, 2012. Carrie was a member of the first graduating class at SFCA in 2000. She received her Bachelor’s in Accounting from FGCU and has worked in the accounting department at McGregor Baptist for 12 years. She has been married for seven years to her husband, Matt who is a CPA and CFP. They are so thrilled to be parents!

Kyle M. Howard (Class of 2009) is among the most highly ranked cadets in the UCF Army ROTC Battalion, serving as one of two company commanders. He is a graduate of the Army’s Airborne School in Fort Benning, Georgia, and completed a one-month internship in Baumholder, Germany, this summer. Kyle is a senior criminal justice major at the University of Central Florida, and will graduate in May 2013. Upon graduation, he plans to commission as a United States Army officer and begin his active duty commitment. Kyle is very active in the First Baptist Orlando college ministry and plays guitar for the children’s worship praise band.

SFCA ALUMNUS RECEIVES SCRIPPS RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
Carissa Iverson, graduate of Southwest Florida Christian Academy, completed the Scripps Research Institute Research Fellows program. As one of 12 recipients in the United States, she was selected to spend 10 weeks in a genetics laboratory studying genetics involved in protecting the ends of chromosomes. Ms. Iverson hopes to concentrate on the field of genetics during her graduate work. She stated she became interested in science after taking a course in human anatomy and physiology as a high school student at SFCA.

 Bethany Wolfe, co-valedictorian from SFCA's graduating class of 2003, is presently a student at Nova University and is in the process of completing her degree to become a physician's assistant. Bethany contributes much of her academic success to her education while at SFCA. She said, “I was given more one on one time with teachers to focus on studies; I was prepared for college. We were a family, and I loved being around godly people.” Bethany also indicated that SFCA has helped her in establishing a Christian worldview.
